WHEN FAILURE BECOMES THE CATALYST FOR GROWTH
I'm JackieÂ
I’ve experienced my fair share of professional highs and lows, but one of my career's most significant turning points was launching—and ultimately losing—my VR startup.
I believed in the concept wholeheartedly. I secured funding, built a team, and poured everything into making it work. But the backing we needed didn't come through when it came time for the second investment round. I felt like I had failed, not just myself but my team and investors. It was a crushing experience.
For a long time, I saw that venture as a failure. But looking back, I realise it was a crash course in resilience, adaptability, and business strategy. It also taught me one of the most important lessons of my career: failure isn’t an endpoint—it’s often a pivot point. That setback forced me to reassess, leading me to coach, a job that aligns more deeply with my strengths and purpose.Â

Today, I use that experience to help others navigate their career challenges. I know firsthand what it feels like to take a risk, face uncertainty, and start over. And I also know how to turn setbacks into stepping stones for success.

Through my coaching, I help clients who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unfulfilled in their careers to gain clarity, develop actionable strategies, and create a life aligned with their values and strengths.

Real Experience, Real Transformation
What Sets Me Apart
Â
I don’t just coach from theory—I coach from lived experience.
➣ I’ve been where my clients are—facing career transitions, navigating imposter syndrome, and moving from an Executive Assistant to a Team Lead in big Corporate. I also managed a large team of Personal Assistants and administrators. I understand the challenges of taking that next leap.
➣ I’ve experienced business failure firsthand – Losing my VR startup wasn’t just a setback but a lesson in resilience, strategic thinking, and reinvention. I use that experience to help my clients turn challenges into growth opportunities.
➣ I’ve built businesses and changed industries multiple times, so I know what it takes to pivot, upskill, and confidently step into new roles. My coaching isn’t just motivational—it’s action-driven, results-focused, and deeply empathetic.

The Biggest Lesson I Had To Learn:
Success Isn’t a Solo Journey
Â
For years, I believed success meant figuring everything out on my own. I thought asking for help was a sign of weakness—that the strongest people were the ones who handled everything themselves.
This mindset drove me to work harder, endure burnout, and try to do everything. But when my VR startup failed, I realised that success isn’t about doing it alone—it’s about knowing when to ask for help.
Later, as I transitioned into a leadership role in big corporate, I learned that great leaders don’t have all the answers—they empower their teams, collaborate, and create environments of trust and innovation.
Now, as a coach, I emphasize this with my clients: you don’t have to do it alone. Whether you’re navigating a career transition, dealing with imposter syndrome, or building your business, seeking guidance isn’t a weakness—it’s strategy.
Leading High-Performing Teams:
What Really Works
When I stepped into my leadership role, I learned that managing a team isn’t about control but connection. Here’s what works:
➣ Be Real With Your Team – Authenticity builds trust. If you don’t have an answer, say so. If something’s going great, acknowledge it. People follow leaders who are real.
➣ Celebrate the Small Wins – Don’t wait for major milestones—acknowledge the daily efforts that keep things moving. Recognition fuels motivation.
➣ Trust Your Team (AKA Stop Micromanaging) – Give people space to own their work. Instead of “Do this exactly like I would,” try, “How do you think we should approach this?”
➣ Actually Listen—Conduct check-ins about more than tasks. Ask, “What’s frustrating you?” “What do you want to work on?” Then, act on their feedback.
➣ Help Your Team Grow – People disengage if they don’t see a future. Support their development and create growth opportunities.
Final Thought: People don’t just work for paychecks—they work for a purpose. The best leaders don’t demand loyalty; they earn it by creating an environment where people thrive.Â
